International Non-Profit Work
I have had the privilege of joining an advisory board for Africa Windmill Project (www.africawindmill.org). This is a wonderful, well-planned and managed group that provides training and irrigation equipment to farmers in Malawi, Africa.
Currently there are millions of farm families that experience a season of hunger, when their food runs out at the end of the dry season (before the rains support a new crop of corn or other crops). AWP provides training and equipment that the farmers help build/install that allows them to grow crops year round this eliminating the season of hunger. Besides providing food security, the new farming training and equipment allows the families to send their children to school rather than carrying water to their gardens in order to survive. In July of 2022, I witnessed the work first hand during a trip to Malawi.
Here’s a video that describes some of the things I witnessed.
Whether you plug into a non-profit like this one or help out locally, using your skills, networks and financial resources to help others, provides a sense of purpose needed in rewirement.
