Co-Founding SAFE Central Florida

Co-Founding an alliance of non-profits, law enforcement and community supporters to fight human trafficking in my community was not on my rewirement radar screen but when I learned how horrible and prevalent trafficking was here in Central Florida I had to do something. So… following the model of an alliance in Washington State, SAFE Central Florida was conceived and launched in 2019/2020.

Along with a colleague from Siemens, her husband, a former State of Florida prosecutor and the help of the National Christian Foundation, we formed SAFE. The mission of SAFE is to help non-profits already in the fight to prevent, intervene (alongside of law enforcement) or help victims of human trafficking. We bring fresh ideas, strategies and resources to help them start or complete strategic projects that they cannot do on their own. We also support proof of concept projects that foster cooperation between groups of non-profits.

Fast forward to 2023, we have over 60 alliance members, completed our initial group of strategic projects and are now on our second group of projects. To date, we have raised funds supporting over $200K worth of projects.
